Amsterdam Museum
The Amsterdam museum was housed in magnificent buildings, once the city Orphanage, originally founded around 1520. The museum tells the compelling story of the growth and heyday of Amsterdam, from small medieval village to the world famous centre today. The museum offers a permanent exhibition telling the history of Amsterdam. The collection consists of paintings, prints, architectural models, objects and archeological finds and shows how Amsterdam grew from a small medieval town to a world famous centre.
At the moment it is under reconstruction, and a part of the collection is to be seen in the Dutch Heritage Museum at the Amstel.
