FOAM
The Foam photography museum Amsterdam exhibits all genres of photography: fine art, documentary, applied, historical and contemporary. Established in 2001 at a beautiful canal house, it is already known as a leading dynamic, accessible and inspiring institution for photography. Exhibits are often focused on social themes; recent shows include Rob van der Nol’s dreamy studies of and Mitch Epstein’s representations of American power. But a retrospective of the pioneering French photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue’s work held in summer 2007.
Along with large exhibitions of established world famous photographers, Foam also exhibits emerging young talent in smaller short-term shows. From Henri Cartier Bresson, Guy Bourdain, Weegee, Man Ray & Lee Miller, Worldpress Photo to Annie Leibovitz, Sylvia Alonso and Ryan McGinley.
The museum includes a bookshop and a library as well as the café.
