The dynamic NDSM wharf – boat tour
The former NDSM wharf is an important piece of industrial heritage that has been earmarked by the City of Amsterdam as an incubator for artistic and cultural activities. Located at a prominent point on the northern banks of the IJ. Experimental art, culture, new media, sustainable enterprises and crafts are housed here in affordable studios alongside work, rehearsal and exhibition spaces.
ARTTRA will take you on an extraordinary excursion across the vast waters of the IJ, using either the local ferry – which is free of charge – or a private boat. Instead of the graceful canals, you will encounter a rougher, tougher side of the city where old industrial architecture is mixed with contemporary housing such as the MVRDV’s Silodam and also the newest sustainable housing projects.
Tip: Walking along the wharf, you will also see the student flats that have been built into colourful containers and creative industrial organisations
Excluding private boat.
